Congratulations, GOP. The party of Reagan has embraced the evil empire, electing as your standard barer, the choice of Vladimir Putin.
Putin, of course, was the head of the FSB, and before that an officer in KGB. While working for the KGB, he burned intelligence files as the Berlin Wall fell, so as to prevent protesters fighting for Democracy from learning Soviet secrets.
That’s right. You have elected Putin’s puppet.
You have embraced treason as a political strategy- as long as it it helps your side.
Your rank and file now embrace Putin because he helped you win, thus giving a new meaning to living in a “Red State.”
After years of calling Democrats socialists and communists to impugn our patriotism, you have turned the White House into the Western outpost of the Kremlin.
You have sacrificed country, honor and truth on the alter of power.
That you remain silent, shows you have no courage.
It makes you complicit.
There is now only one party in the United States that represent the interests of America.
Reagan is rolling in his grave that it is not his.
While mention of Putin’s hurried destruction of Soviet secrets during the fall of the Berlin Wall certainly help to feed the vacuous, gaping emptiness in America’s awareness of what the Russian leader is all about, perhaps outlining his reputation for silencing journalists and marionetting (my new verb in celebration of the unique way in which the GOP and their electorate have become entirely inebriated by an orange troll) various vulnerable countries to suit his agenda might be further informative.
Afterall, it’s not entirely far off-base at this juncture to include America in a list of Putin’s achievements by striking vulnerable nations in various sinister ways during their weakest moments. He has a reputation, despite his 46DDD moobs (a bit of solidarity to your predominate readership gender).
The real question at this point is “Are there any GOP left on Capitol Hill who will pounce the moment Trump commits an impeachable act with the same vim and vigor as was deployed by an oversight committee almost a dozen times to catch Hillary Clinton at some ultimately fantasy-based criminal activity?”
There have to be some truly patriotic members of the GOP who haven’t been persuaded or threatened to put Party over Nation, yet. Right?
Seriously. Right?
Maybe I’m naive.

You are absolutely correct. I am sure I will have plenty of opportunity to discuss Putin’s treatment of the press going forward, especially as we see the creeping encroachment of such tactics here under Trump. I have touched somewhat on Trump’s threat to Freedom of the press, speech etc. in other posts, but I appreciate your expanded comments here.
In answer to your question about whether there are any members of the GOP willing to stand up to Trump, I think the answer is no. They are cowards and some of them traitors. The fate of our democracy (or what is left of it) rests upon the GOP and in particular, those mythical “moderate Republicans.” Which is to say, we are doomed. We waited for them in the primary. We waited for them in the general. There is no evidence to suggest they will appear or grow a spine. Again, thanks so much for the comment. I appreciate your insight
